With a background in English Literature and substantial experience in administrative roles I have a flexible approach to work and can perform equally well alone, using my own initiative, or as part of a team. Aside from my paid work, I have undertaken voluntary positions in a charity shop and on hospital radio. I have volunteered with Sŵn Festival as part of their media team. I have contributed articles to Buzz Magazine and the CDF newspaper as well as theatre reviews for Cardiff Shakespeare. I have edited proofs before publication. I also write poetry and short stories, some of which have been published.

experience
2013- : Support Officer, Cardiff University
My currennt role as a reader, scribe and invigilator involves reading and writing for students with problems ranging from dyslexia to physical disabilities which require excellent communication skills and an ability to listen carefully. As I am friendly and approachable, the students are able to relax even during such a stressful time and this also increases their confidence in me. I also invigilate during exams, which demonstrates I am able to hold a position of authority and responsibility. I am also part of the enrolment team – using bespoke university software to create new student ID cards and check visas. This is a fast-paced role as we experience high numbers of students and so I deal with them in a polite and efficient manner to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible and the students have a positive introduction to the university.

(Deputy Manager) Sales Advisor, Whittard of Chelsea
2015 - 2017
My role involved assisting customers in purchases of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or brewing equipment; learning about the products in detail to offer appropriate advice; working on the till, being responsible for opening and closing the shop, banking, receiving deliveries, organising the stock room, replenishing the products on the shop floor, making samples of beverages for customers to taste, arranging the displays and shop window advertising, ensuring the store is kept clean and tidy. I was also promoted to Deputy Manager during maternity cover which emphasises my reliability and competence.

Receptionist, Wales Co-Operative Centre
2014-2014
Being on reception meant I was the first point of contact for enquiries and also acted as a switchboard for the other members of the team. I dealt with the post: using the franking machine, weighing parcels and logging post as well as ensuring that it was assigned to the correct pigeon hole. Completing stationery orders, photocopying, handling petty cash, completing databases of information and booking trains and accommodation were other duties which I undertook.

Assistant Practice Manager, Ynysybwl Surgery
2009 - 2012

Undertaking tasks such as audits, data entry, updating practice policies, conducting appraisals, contacting people of different areas within the trust and finding a mutually convenient time and place to conduct meetings, taking accurate and detailed minutes and disseminating them to the relevant practitioners as well as engaging with patients both in person and on the phone means that I am able to confidently deal with a variety of tasks and organise my time effectively as well as communicate with a broad spectrum of people. Writing letters to patients and inviting them to come to appointments was also part of my role and as such I am confident in both my written and oral skills. Occasionally I was included in discussion of the management of complaints and so I am aware of the correct protocol for dealing with such issues. I was also used to liaising between the clinical and non-clinical staff and providing support, motivation and encouragement to build team co-operation. In addition to managerial work, it was sometimes necessary to cover reception and so dealing with shredding sensitive material, transcribing letters, making prescriptions, filing, photocopying and ordering supplies were also aspects of work that fell under my responsibility. I am used to working under pressure and ensuring the smooth and efficient day to day running of business.
